Information

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is an open-world action-adventure game developed by Rockstar Leeds in collaboration with Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was released for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) handheld console in October 2006 and later for the PlayStation 2 in March 2007. The game is the ninth title in the Grand Theft Auto series and serves as a prequel to Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, which was released in 2002.

Map and Setting

Vice City Stories takes you back to the neon-lit streets of Vice City in the 1980s. The setting and map are inspired by Miami, Florida with a retro 80s vibe.

The city is made up of two main islands and several smaller ones, for a total of nine distinct areas. The islands are connected by bridges and tunnels. Each area has its own unique characteristics, architecture, and style.

  • Downtown is the central business district with skyscrapers, offices, and lots of traffic. It’s based in Downtown Miami.
  • Ocean Beach resembles Miami Beach with art deco hotels, a long beachfront walkway, and beach activities.
  • Little Havana is like its real-world counterpart with cigar factories, Latin music, and pastel-colored houses.
  • Little Haiti has Caribbean-style houses, reggae music, and a Haitian immigrant community.

The smaller islands include Starfish Island, Prawn Island, and Leaf Links golf club. The golf course is a great place to find a fast car and go joyriding!

Vehicles

When it comes to getting around Vice City, you’ve got options. So many options. From sports cars and sedans to helicopters and speedboats, the variety of vehicles in this game is mind-blowing.

Cars are everywhere in Vice City, so you’ll have no trouble finding one to jack for a joyride. There are over 100 vehicles to choose from, like the Cheetah, Infernus, and Stinger. Each handles differently, so test drive a few to find your favorite. Once you’ve got a set of wheels, explore the city in style.

For quicker travel, steal a motorcycle. The PCJ-600 and Faggio are popular choices. Just watch out for traffic and pedestrians, or you’ll be sent flying. If two wheels aren’t thrilling enough, get your hands on a Sanchez dirt bike to tear up the beach and back alleys.

When the roads get too crowded, take to the air or sea. Helicopters like the Maverick and Sea Sparrow will lift you up and over the congestion, while speedboats such as the Jetmax and Marquis will zip you across the waters surrounding the city.
