Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 2, also known as Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai – Another Road, is a fighting video game developed by Dimps and published by Atari for the PlayStation Portable (PSP). It was released in North America on March 20, 2007, and in Europe on June 22, 2007. The game is the sequel to Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai and is based on the popular Dragon Ball Z anime and manga series.

Shin Budokai 2 features an all-new story mode called “Another Road,” which follows an alternate timeline where the villainous Majin Buu wreaks havoc in Future Trunks’ world. Players can choose from a roster of more than 20 characters, each with their unique moves and abilities.

How the Combat Works in Dragon Ball Z – Shin Budokai 2

So you’ve mastered the basics and you’re ready to start brawling. The combat in Dragon Ball Z – Shin Budokai 2 is fast-paced and intense, but understanding how it works will give you an edge.

To start, choose between the Simple and Normal control types. Simple is good for casual play, with basic controls and automatic combos. Normal gives you full control to pull off powerful combos and counters. I recommend starting with Simple until you get the hang of it.

On the battle screen, you’ll see your fighter on the left and your opponent on the right, with health bars for each at the top. Use the directional pad or left stick to move around, jump, and duck. The face buttons or right stick control your attacks – punch, kick, energy blast, and block.

Chain light and heavy attacks together for deadly combos. After a few hits, knock your opponent into the air and teleport above them to continue your assault. When your opponent is stunned, use a smash attack for massive damage. Be careful, as the CPU can also pull off devastating combos and counters.

Exploring the Game Modes in Dragon Ball Z – Shin Budokai 2

Once you’ve unlocked some characters and stages, it’s time to dive into the real meat of the game – the gameplay modes! There are quite a few options to choose from in Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 2.

Story Mode

This mode lets you play through an original story specifically created for this game. You’ll follow Goku and her friends as they work to prevent Janemba’s evil from corrupting the timeline. The story is told through cutscenes and combat, and you’ll face off against many familiar foes from the DBZ universe. This model is a must-play for any fan of anime or manga.

Arcade Mode

Arcade mode lets you select your team of up to 3 characters and battle your way through 8 stages of enemies. Each stage ends in a boss fight, usually against a major villain from the series. This mode is a fun way to try out different team combinations and see some of your favorite showdowns recreated in the game.

Want to pit your favorite characters against each other? VS Battle is the mode for you. You can select from 1v1 up to 3v3 battles on any unlocked stage. This is a great way to settle those debates over who the strongest fighter really is! You can also choose CPU vs CPU to watch the computer duke it out.

Need to hone your skills? The Training mode is ideal for practicing combos, trying out new characters, and exploring gameplay mechanics. You can set options like health, timer, and opponent behavior to customize your training experience. This mode is key for any player looking to improve their skills.
