Master the Combat: Controls, Moves, and Combos

To really dominate in Def Jam Fight for NY: The Takeover, you’ve got to master the combat. Once you understand the controls, learn some key moves and combos, and get a feel for the fighting styles, you’ll be knocking out opponents in no time.

The controls are pretty straightforward. The left analog stick moves your fighter, the right analog stick controls the camera. The four face buttons on the controller each correspond to one of your fighter’s limbs – X punches with the left arm, B with the right arm, Y kicks with the left leg and A with the right leg.

By combining the face buttons, you can pull off simple combos like X-X-B or Y-B-Y. Mix up your combos using different buttons for high and low attacks that will keep your opponent guessing. As you fight, your special meter will fill up. Once it’s charged, you can unleash a special attack with the right trigger. The time it well for maximum impact!

Each fighter also has a unique fighting style, like boxing, kickboxing, or street fighting. Boxers are fast with their hands, kickboxers excel at kicks, and street fighters utilize anything at their disposal. Choose a style that matches your strengths, or try them all to become a well-rounded fighter.

Other tips: Block incoming attacks with the left trigger. Grapple and throw your opponent with the left bumper. Move in close to clinch by pressing up on the left stick, then pound away with body shots!
